Residents of Chila and Rama towns of Merebeleke woreda raised over 470 thousand birr during the telethons held

In support of TDA’s continuous effort in terms of improving access, equity and quality of education and health services and its public mobilization activities, residents of Chila and Rama towns of Merebleke woreda conducted fund-raising activities on 21 and 25 September 2012 E.C, respectively.

While the participants in Chila town raised 100,485, those in Rama contributed 369,700 birr, which aggregates 470,186.

Being present during the event held at Rama town, Mr. Hailemariam Haftu director of membership mobilization and fund raising directorate of TDA gave a compliment on behalf of TDA and its beneficiaries to the residents of Chila and Rama towns of Merebeleke woreda for organizing telethons to support TDA’s endeavors in converting makeshift/‘dass’ classes into buildings.

Having mentioned the 30 years’ remarkable works of TDA on the improvement of coverage, equity and quality of education and health services along with its members and supporters in order to create a prosperous Tigrai free from poverty and backwardness, Mr. Fitsum Legesse, administrator of Merebleke woreda on his part reminded that TDA also did similar education projects in the area.

After explaining that the fund-raising events held at both Chila and Rama towns were part and parcel of the efforts the government is doing to getting rid of poverty and backwardness, Mr. Fitsum also committed that similar activities would be done in the other tabias and kushets of Merebeleke woreda to continue strengthening the supports bestowed to TDA through carrying out public mobilization activities.
