It is sad to see such a rating for Ethiopia when the country is auctioning its main public companies. This rating will certainly help the bidders to buy the public companies at a much lower cost. The greedy capitalists are using all means necessary to bankrupt the country and turn it into a banana republic. Negative rating! Never ceases to amaze!

Breaking an electoral suicide pact
In early August, the EPRDF Executive Committee announced that national elections will go ahead as scheduled next year. This means Ethiopia is about to enter a highly charged competition for power, with polling day perhaps less than nine months away. Is this a wise move, or foolish bravado?
There is no other choice better than to hold an election for Ethiopia. Everything else is second to holding an election. There is no trust left with this government to act as a transitional government. Hold the election and let the new coalition government determine the fate of the constitution or even the country itself.

Privatization process encounters vociferous criticism
After making a bold decision to privatize state-owned enterprises, the government is drawing fierce criticism with the latest one coming from the former president of the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Sectoral Association, Kebour Ghenna. Kebour, a staunch private sector advocate and a noted businessman, argued that the government's haste to denationalize public assets would probably undermine "the sovereignty" of Ethiopia.
If Abiy wants to remain noted in history in a good way, he should stop auctioning the country's wealth. He has neither the mandate nor the capacity to do so. The Oromo and Amhara people will not benefit an iota if these companies are sold today, to say the least! ODP and ADP will be held responsible if they enable the current government to continue the current privatizing scheme. Let an elected government deicde!

Ethiopia says Egypt proposal on Nile dam hurts 'sovereignty'
ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia - Ethiopia's foreign ministry in a sharply worded statement dismisses Egypt's latest proposal on a massive Nile River dam project as "against the sovereignty of Ethiopia." The statement issued Friday comes shortly after Egypt said a new round of talks over the soon-to-be-finished $5 billion Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam failed to achieve progress.

Ethiopia rejects Egypt's Nile water dam proposal
Ethiopia has rejected Egypt's proposal over how to operate the Grand Renaissance Dam, which is being built on the Blue Nile near Ethiopia's border with Sudan.
Ethiopia should claim the same claim Egypt and Sudan used during their turbulent days to postpone the negotiation! Negotiation should be postponed until a stable government is elected in Ethiopia! This is an election year and if the Abiy government is sincere with its desire to reform the country it must stop making any deals to privatize the economy or any international deals! There is plenty of precedences to use for Ethiopia to freeze any discussions or deals that affect the country. Even the USA with 300 years of democracy did not allow President Obama to nominate a Supreme Court judge during the last few months of his presidency! The Abiy government is simply a transitional government not popularly mandated to govern the country. Abiy himself told the world he was passing secrets of government to illegal organizations during the Meles/ Hailemaraim government(Listen to Andargachew Tisge interview and Abiy recent interview with Sheger radio). This is not what a popular PM does if you ask us!

TPLF Repeating Same Fatal Mistake (Part One)
Yene Gasha Sep 19, 2019 - It would be disingenuous for anyone to minimize the undeniable truth that many within the Ethiopian political bureaucracy (be they Tigrian, Amhara or Oromo) forgot their struggling compatriots and decided instead to enrich themselves and their families. Thus, unashamed theft of public assets has become the norm in today’s Ethiopia.
