Gize: Political parties take on the constitutional crisis and the election
Part II

Part I

There is a need for a TV programming that is managed and produced by independent professionals. Ethiopians and Tigreans in particular will benefit a lot if Tigrai TV or DW TV allocates an hour or so time slot each day for such use. We hope "Gize" will fill in this void for now.

Hakfen media: With Veteran member of EPRP Ayte Maikele Mengesha

Kush Media: An amazing interview with Obbo Bekele Gerba.
Telling it as it is!! Must Watch.
We never thought we will say this but EPRDF was wrong to jail such a nationalist and honest person. Bekele Gerba is an outstanding astute politician.

The Rise Of Aksum - History Of Africa With Zeinab Badawi

Abiy Ahmed should watch this to refresh his mind about Ethiopia's tangible history - Negash as well as Lalibela are tangible relics but are dated much younger than Axum and Yeha!

Ethiopian police ignore court orders to free journalists held since March
Nairobi, May 22, 2020 -- Ethiopian police should immediately and unconditionally free journalists Dessu Dulla and Wako Nole and media worker Ismael Abdulrzaq, the Committee to Protect Journalists said today. On March 7, police in the town of Burayu, on the outskirts of the capital Addis Ababa, arrested Dessu, a deputy director at the privately-owned Oromia News Network broadcaster,...
Now You Know!
This is an insider account of the composition of forces and their commanders that marched on Addis Ababa on May 28, 1991, driving the last nail into the coffin of the defunct Derg regime. Today, in the name of building a democratic Ethiopia, the Army is...

Egypt accepts Ethiopia-Sudan proposal to renegotiate dam dispute
Egypt has said it is willing to resume negotiations with Sudan and Ethiopia over the filling of a controversial mega-dam that has been a source of tension between all three Nile basin countries.
We can only hope Ethiopians are well-informed by now and will not be easily persuaded by the above news. The Abiy government and Egypt are working in sync to hand over control of the Nile river and Renaissance Dam. Do not be fooled, Egypt has the upper hand in this negotiation and there is nothing for Egypt to sign a win-win agreement today.
Resolving the impasse on GERD negotiations
A.T. Abera 05-21-20 - Ethiopia and Egypt share the Nile with 9 other riparian states. While the Nile and its tributaries naturally have their source upstream, Egypt, at the mouth of the river, has a near-total monopoly of use. Egypt's desire to control this vital resource led it to adopt an outwardly aggressive strategy of control and manipulation...

The more things change the more they stay the same is an old adage saying. When we first read a Facebook post about the possible censorship of Siye's interview with Tigrai TV, we thought our "digital woyanes" were acting weird and can not be true. However, lately, we too are wondering why the interview has not aired yet. TPLF leaders need to know the public is more than ready to listen to differing views. Tigrai TV is a public institution as such should be managed with little interference from party officials. The only winner from this fiasco is Abiy's prosperity party. They will have one more reason to tell the world Tigrai is not free and democratic. Regardless of what Siye said let the public watch the interview. Now that it has been held for over a week, let it air without heavy editing. At least post it on youtube unedited. Himamm!!!

Political Game over GERD - A Means to Stay in Power?
Faato 21 May 2020 - I was trying to connect the dots in Cairo, Khartoum, Addis Ababa, Asmara, UAE, Riyadh, and Washington DC on the suddenly evolving deadlocked negotiation over the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) that is now boiling the situation. Originally the though was that Egypt is trying to take advantage of the political crisis in Ethiopia ...

Abiy and Renassiance Dam Under Egyptian Control.
Ted Wondeaferash May 20, 2020 - Dear Aigaforum , The current saber-rattling by Egypt is meant to scare Ethiopians and force Ethiopia to comply with Egypt's demand. A close knowledgeable friend I talked told me, the Abiy government is trying to use Egypt's saber-rattling to extend its power beyond the current term without an election.
Birtukan Midekesa with Dimtsi Woyane TV
Birtukan denied ever saying that Tigrai government is not legally empowered to hold an election. She said, she replied to a general question she was asked if a Region/Kilil can hold an election alone. She also said she chose a company in UAE as the most trustworthy to print election materials more than any local company.(Amazing!).
Birtukan must have realized the grave historical mistake she was committing when she declared the postponement of the national election. Otherwise, why would she sit down for an interview with DW TV? The same TV station was kicked out of her press briefing last time. Something is killing her from the inside and if we can guess it must be how and why she ended up serving Abiy Ahmed! She will be the last elected official to see the disintegration of Ethiopia as we know it. History will not be so kind to her.

WHO approves call for inquiry into global coronavirus response
London (CNN)The World Health Organization (WHO) has agreed to hold an inquiry into the global response to the coronavirus pandemic, adopting a resolution. WHO member states adopted the proposal with no objections during the World Health Assembly meeting on Tuesday. The part of the resolution that had been considered contentious called for "a stepwise process of impartial, independent and comprehensive evaluation" at "the earliest appropriate moment," with the purpose "to review experience gained and lessons learned from the WHO-coordinated international health response to Covid-19."
Open letter to the President of the Security Council on Egypt's submission on the GERD
A.T. bera. 05-19-20 - I address Your Excellency and through you the Security Council and its members with genuine respect and cordial greetings. I read the letter to the Security Council written by Egypt's Foreign Minister H.E. Mr. Samih Shoukry on the 1st of May 2020 regarding the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD). I am addressing this letter to Your Excellency and through you to the members of the Security Council as a concerned Ethiopian.

Ethiopia vs. Egypt: Justice delayed and denied for 120 years.
Mekonnen Kassa. 05-18-20 - Ethiopia, Egypt, and the Nile River have dominated international news, some with alarming headlines foretelling world water war, for the last nine years. Multiple articles have been published as well. Almost all news items and articles required detailed historical background knowledge, skill to understand international transboundary laws and agreement, and ability to decode technical details.
Professor Endirias in no uncertain terms told Meaza Ashenafi and her group, that he sees no easy way out other than holding the election now before it is too late. He said now is the time to have a free and robust media as well as an elected and popular government to fight the COVID-19 crisis. The professor said no one knows when the COVID crisis will be over thus postponing the election now is inviting for unelected government to govern the country. The professor told Meaza Ashenafi the constitution was written with nation and nationalities in mind.

Never Again!
Jerusalem Barnabas May 17, 2020 - I spent my young life-fighting Mengistu's dictatorship, I was fortunate, I survived to tell the story but many of my peers perished. There would be no words to tell the crimes against humanity committed during Colonel Mengistu's rule. We were just high school children, with little understanding of what our resistance to Mengistu's regime would unleash. Yes, 'the genie in the bottle'. As young, we rose to an incredible political maturity for our age then became the victims of our own struggle.
Thankyou Dade! What a poignant message your article conveys. It is really sad to witness the end of Ethiopia as we know it. It may not be politically correct to say this but I am so proud of my people! Unlike the many other nations and nationalities who it seems have kneeled to this regime, Tigreans are standing tall with head high ready to elect their government come rain or shine![Admin, May 17, 2020]
