Very different income-support programs are often labeled ...

Saudis maneuver for dominance in Africa
BAGHDAD (Tribune News Service) -Saudi Arabia stumbled to the finish line in 2018. Its war in Yemen got messier. Its reputation was severely damaged by the death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Its regional rival Iran solidified its power in Syria. As it stands now, the alliance does not include Eritrea, with its approximately 715 miles of Red Sea coastline, or Ethiopia, which, though landlocked, is the Horn of Africa's economic heavyweight. (Both are expected to join future exercises.)
No wonder why Abiy was adamant about Ethiopia having a naval Force! Just out of the blue once he became a Prime Minister he announced about Ethiopia's plan to have a naval force! Gone are the days when Ethiopia's policy and need are determined based on its own needs, not external actors- least Arab countries! This is really sad!

According to Fanabc, Shiek Alamudi has been released. If the news is true it is indeed great news! There has been much false news about his imminent release ever since PM Abiy told Ethiopians he has secured a promise from the crown prince of his imminent release last Year!
We have confirmed from Family members that he is indeed free, He has not left Saudi Arabia yet! - Jan 27, 2019 :11:54AM(PST)

People's Call for Unity and Oromo Political Organizations' Refusal
Assefa A. Lemu 1-27-19 - In his pamphlet titled "What Is to Be Done?" written in 1901 and published in 1902, Vladimir Ilyich Lenin argued that the working class will not become a political power simply by fighting economic battles with employers over wages, working hours, and the like. He said, to become a political power, the working class should form a political party and need to learn about the whole society, not just their own corner of it.

Revisiting Chinese Transportation Projects in Ethiopia
Our opening lines last year about the Light Railway system in Addis were about the uniqueness of the project in sub-Saharan Africa – probably the reason why Addis officials decided to implement the project from Chinese money with Chinese companies. On the surface nothing has changed with the two lines (the green East–West and the blue North–South), but underneath there are a few things worth mentioning.
(In due time unless Ethiopians rise up to the challenge facing them, all of the development will be for nothing. The country will not manage to pay its debt due to the insecurity and ill-advised policy the neo-liberals are sanctioning on the country!)

Believe You Me, There is no Conspiracy against The People of Tigray
Ababiya Abalafa 1-25-19 - To read articles about the alleged marginalization of TPLF and the people of Tigray by the administration of PM Dr. Abiy has now become daily news. Those who write the articles seem to be sympathizers who strongly feel and concerned about the people of Tigray. There should not be any ill feelings about that. However, in so far as I am concerned, none of the articles, I would with all earnest say, convincingly...

Soft-Targets: The Predicament of non-TPLF member Tigreans in Ethiopia outside Tigray

Dr. Yohannes Aberra Ayele 1-23-19 - "Soft-targets" are people and things that are unprotected or vulnerable and "hard-targets" are those that are protected from attack. In the history of conflicts the enemies are more inclined towards attacking innocent non-combatants such as children, women, and the elderly rather than face the enemy head on in a hardware battle.

The Real Outrage
EsaTed 22/01/2019 - In the summer of 2012, I travelled to Ethiopia. I was in the country a couple of days when the passing of Prime Minister Meles Zenawi hit the airwaves. Disbelief, sadness, and shock were how I felt as a man who followed and admired the PM for his wisdom, commitment to the country, and relentless...
