PM Abiy and President Lemma of Oromia, by far the two most powerful leaders in Ethiopia are talking!
Abiy is complaining he can not govern the country and lead the transition because the people are not cooperating(wonder why?)... and Lemma is sharing his grand idea of changing the demographics of Addis Ababa! I thought EPRDF said a long time ago Ethiopia's number one enemy is Poverty! Why is Abiy dumbfounded why the people are not listening to his daily sermon that brings no bread to the table? And why is Lemma cheating the Oromo people that their problem will be resolved by owning Addis Ababa after his resettlement is complete? It is mindboggling the Oromo elites are letting these two leaders ruin their victory! Ethiopia is heading to the abyss and it is sad it is happening in the name of democracy!
I wonder what the proponents of dominant democracy are saying these days? Remember the argument if the Oromo holds power the country will be more democratic and peaceful! That was what proponents of dominant democracy argued over the years and paint the EPRDF as a minority government. Abiy and Lemma are you aware of "It is the economy stupid!" and "where is the beef" political campaign advertisement in the USA? Zeru Hagos Feb 26, 2018
In Support of Dr. Yohannes Abera's Idea
HabtuMesfin 2-26-19 - This is in reference to Dr. Yohannes Abera’s recent article in Amharic which can be loosely translated as “People are tending to be back to their mind” that I found it very mature, farsighted, and above all educational.
Why proposals to sell nuclear reactors to Saudi Arabia raise red flags
According to a congressional report, a group that includes former senior U.S. government officials is lobbying to sell nuclear power plants to Saudi Arabia. As an expert focusing on the Middle East and the spread of nuclear weapons, I believe these efforts raise important legal, economic and strategic concerns.
Chinese-run railway in Ethiopia gives regional development much-needed boost
Ethiopia has a population of almost 100 million people, the second largest in Africa. However, lack of infrastructure has long held back the inland country's economic development. Ninety-five percent of its imported and exported goods are transported via ports in Djibouti. The Addis Ababa-Djibouti Railway railway has now been operating for three years, and is run according to China's railway standards. In that time, it has transported 150 million passengers.
The 150 million may be a misprint! With all the turbulence and civil unrest of the past three years hard to believe these many people took advantage of the revolutionary democrats work!
Mekelle's unjust and unsustainable urban expansion has to be tackled before it's too late.
Haile Tessema Feb. 24, 2019 - Land is one of the most valuable commodities as it’s a source for basic necessities of life: food, clothing and shelter. For that reason, it’s regarded highly by its human inhabitants. On the downside, land has been a source of conflict in various communities all over the world, and serves as an effective tool for citizen control in undemocratic societies.
Mountain Biking the Roof of Ethiopia
After many discussions in the winter with my friend Guillaume, our choice was made, we are going to head to Ethiopia. Trails full of oriental perfume, burning incense odors, and big mountains not really known for mountain biking. It's a simple plan on paper, start at Bahir Dar (Blue Nile Springs) and get to the roof of Ethiopia, the Ras Dashen (4543 m). Just 450 km of pedalling on the way.

Give Credit Where it is Due Please!
In the old days when the use of social media was at its nascent among the Ethiopian community, we used to monitor all the extremist media for fake news and images since they were notoriously posting false news! But no more! With the advancement of social media and all the Digital Woyanes, and the return of all the extremists and "akurafi politicians" back to Addis, we see no need to spend time and energy from where we are now! However, when the Abiy government implied the greening of Addis Ababa plan was one of its big plans we could not convince ourselves how in such a short time they could have such a plan!Apparently, the plan is not the work of the Abiy government! Read and watch the following two stories (above and below). Why can't the Abiy government be proud of what the previous government has done and give credit where it is due? To be honest the Abiy government will be respected if it can finish what the revolutionary democrats started! By now the current government should know no one is expecting much from it! All that is being expected from the Abiy government is to lead a smooth transition and to hold an election on time!

Constitutional Crises in Ethiopia
Assefa A. Lemu 2-20-19 - In a democratic system, constitution sets rules and regulations and guides the decisions of a government of a given country. Unfortunately, in Ethiopia, we are noticing ongoing violations of constitutional provisions which lead to constitutional crises. Constitutional crises happen when a constitution fails to accomplish the objectives...

The above news coupled with the following news on
Ethio-Djibouti-pipeline
is somewhat assuring not all is lost in Ethiopia as far as development work goes. One can only hope such news will be the norm as it used to be instead of the daily news about killings and uprootings!
