Soft power influence in the Arabian Gulf
Kuwait in the 1980s, then (UAE member) Dubai in the 1990s, and Qatar and Abu Dhabi in the 2000s all spent lavishly in the quest for influence. Those seeking a higher international profile have always targeted journalists of all nationalities. Invited on press trips (often the only way to meet local leaders), they receive expensive gifts...

Be reasonable about Amharic: Are we a Federal State or a Tower of Babel?
Yohannes Aberra, PhD 8-29-19 - The Federal arrangement that was realized three decades ago in Ethiopia was meant to help Ethiopia remain united in the face of a dangerous ethnicity-induced centrifugal tendency that prevailed by the end of the Derg Regime. The TPLF has been cursed for it all the way but in those days it really worked..

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed's miscalculations that helped TPLF, the lucky bunny, gets off the hook
Asmelash Yohannes (PhD, Mekelle University School of Law) August 28, 2019 - The popular uprising against the ruling EPRDF party since 2015 was turning deadly. Among other things, it resulted in the abrupt resignation of the then prime minister Hailemariam Desalegn. Tigrai TV Ethio-Forum: With Getachew Reda TPLF/EPRDF Executive Leader
August 2019

One thing is for sure, Ethiopia will have multiple centers of influence! Gone are the days where Churchill Godana shines and Arat Kilo rules as far as informing the country. Very informative and constructive discussion. We were concerned if the hundreds of youtube channels with no editorial policy or accountability were going to control the political discourse of the country. Thanks, Tigrai TV.

The world's first illustrated Christian Bible is in Ethiopia
If you are to ever make it to the Abuna Garima monastery in Ethiopia’s Tigrai Highlands, you would find a book that is highly revered by local monks and believed to be one of the Christian world’s oldest and most exquisite treasures.Scholars had always presumed that the two volumes, which are brightly illustrated, dated back to the early 11th century. However, recent carbon-testing has proved otherwise, giving a date between 330 and 650, suggesting that they are among the oldest gospels in existence.

Ginbot 7 Andargachew and EPRDF Abiy
Meskerem SayTeba...!(before September arrives) is an age-old saying in Ethiopia. Meskerem is the month Ethiopian new year starts. For a while, I have been wondering why Andargachew Tsige decided to stay away from Berhanu Nega and Ethiopian Politics as an active player. Although he is not actively involved in politics it seems Andargachew is still shadowing his former self. Some time ago, Andargachew told the world Abiy nor ODP has no road map to govern the country! He told the world the only road map Abiy is using is the one that was given to him by Ginbot 7! If what we hear in this video is true, Andargachew is also telling the world that Abiy was a long-time informer of Ginbot 7. In fact, according to Andargachew, he has given four very sensitive government secrets to Ginbot 7 which was later given to the Eritrean government! Now the question is why is Andargachew sharing this? Is he blackmailing Abiy? If true why did Abiy who is an Oromo who came to power with Qerro help(according to Jawar!) pass secrets to Ginbot 7 and not the OLF? I heard during the heated discussion before the resignation of PM Haile Mariam the EPRDF government confronted the now Team Lemma that the government was aware of some of the team members connection to foreign agents and extremists. It is said the Haiemariam government chose to look the other way instead of confronting those involved to avoid further crisis. Were they right then and wrong now? It is one thing to share secrets with legal opposition but sharing government secrets with a foreign government is treason right? What is Andy up-to? Zeru Hagos Aug 2019

Violence against woman!
Berhane Alemayoh 8-22-19 - When Mrs. Fanita Fay Solomon who is doing a Nobel work for women in Tigray suggested to me to write my take condemning violence against woman in Tigray, tears started to cloud my eyes. My knees got weaker and weaker because, I grew up around men who were violent towards their wives, domestic workers and even to the local woman who owned their own business.

Egypt's Nile water committee reviews trilateral negotiations on Ethiopia's GERD
The committee discussed several phases of the lengthy trilateral negotiations on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD), which yielded 'no agreement', Cabinet Spokesman Nader Saad said. 'The futile negotiations prompted the Egyptian side to put forward a technical proposal which takes into account Ethiopia's energy needs without detriment to Egyptian...'
PM Abiy, no one lives for eternity. If you want to be remembered as the PM who finished the Dam then do the right thing! Do not put your head down when it comes to the negotiation! Egypt is emboldened because of your weakness. PM Meles and Hailemariam faced more pressure than you and didn't blink nor put their head down! For the sake of all Ethiopians and for the sake of the Oromo people whom you represent finish this Dam!
