The Sacrifices and The Struggle Continue
Aynalem Sebhatu 01-10-21 - Although the Abiy regime and his cronies are referring to the imprisonment of members of the TPLF as though it is the turning point in the war against Tigray, this is true only on the symbolic level. I have no doubt that Abiy Ahmed and his media outlets will exploit it to a maximum. But curiously reminiscent of the Derg era ...
Report: Hospitals in Ethiopia's Tigray struck by artillery
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - Many of the hospitals in Ethiopia's conflict-hit Tigray region, outside its capital, have been struck by artillery during two months of fighting, according to the first humanitarian assessment of the devastation as aid begins to arrive with desperately needed supplies.
Satellites Show Ethiopia Carnage, Showing Conflict Continues
(Bloomberg) -- Satellite images show the destruction of United Nations' facilities, a health-care unit, a high school and houses at two camps sheltering Eritrean refugees in Tigray, northern Ethiopia, belying government claims that the conflict in the dissident region is largely over.
An Insane view of Sovereignty
Aynalem Sebhatu 01-09-21 - For more than two months of denying the involvement of the Eritrean army in Tigray's war theatre, it seemed the Abiy regime's wheels of lies might finally be coming off. In an informal conversation,
a growing number of officials and high-ranking military leaders in Addis Ababa and Mekelle are admitting the active involvement of the Eritrean army. At the same time, these officials are denying their awareness of a plan to involve the Eritrean army ...
Abiy Ahmed and the Consolidation of Ethiopia's Dictatorship
There are no shortage of Nobel Peace Prize embarrassments but Ahmed is quickly positioning himself to be among the Norwegian Nobel Committee's biggest regrets... Perhaps fearing that Tigray's political defiance could spread to Ethiopia's other region, in November 2020, Ahmed ordered Ethiopian Defense Forces to occupy Tigray and oust its elected government. The Tigrayan People's Liberation Front, one of the key forces which overthrew the Derg, dug-in to defend their Tigray's local autonomy and to stymie rumors plans to transfer territory from their region to neighboring Amhara. It has been a brutal fight. Despite Ethiopia's repeated denials, Ahmed appointed his own mayor who now admits that Eritrean forces also joined the fighting, a fact the U.S. intelligence community now acknowledges. Eyewitness accounts describe Ethiopian and Eritrean forces summarily executing civilians and looting property. For Ahmed, power motivates, and for Eritrean dictator Isaias Afwerki, cash does. Few having tasted liberty are willing to forfeit it easily, however, and so unrest continues.
On Dec. 27, Ethiopia reportedly lost a general.
Eritrea in the Tigray war: What we know and why it might backfire
There is little doubt now that Eritrean forces are participating in the war in Tigray. Ethiopia's
Abiy Ahmed has denied it and Eritrea's foreign minister has insisted "we are not part of the conflict". But other disagree. On 8 December, Reuters reported that "a U.S. government source and five regional diplomats" told them the US believes Eritrean soldiers have crossed into Ethiopia.
Tragic Political Actors and the Tragic War Against Tigray
Aynalem Sebhatu 01-06-21 - In April of 2018, desperate to minimize the political chaos in Oromia, Abiy Ahmed was named the prime minister of the country by the EPRDF. He was elected to address the political, social and economic problems the country was going through and to stabilize the country to a peaceful transition. He was expected to keep the country from falling apart.
Ethiopia: Thousands of Dead, Millions to Follow
Mulu Nega 01-05-21 - Thousands have died in war that is on an identical path to the Yugoslavian war where 140 thousand people died, and four million people were displaced. Ethiopia has 116 million people, or four times the population of Yugoslavia, and will have at least four times the number of deaths and displacements not considering ramifications from the disintegration of its regional security role.
The Wild Claims of the Amhara
Kalayu Abrha 01-05-21- The Amhara elites are very busy claiming anything that is best in Ethiopia as their own. They are writing multitudes of books; holding countless conferences; engaged in endless interviews in the hundreds of the same-feather media they have created; and posting in tens of thousands on the social media suffocating viewers, listeners and readers with identical messages about their being: "more Ethiopian than other Ethiopians; more orthodox Christian than even the originals...
War in Tigray and Crimes of International Law
Mulugeta Abai 01-04-21 - Almost all wars are intertwined with cover-ups and keeping people in darkness by the ruling cliques and war-mongering forces. The extent of war crimes and crimes against humanity, therefore, may come to the fore years after the initial outbreak of the war. This is particularly true about the present war in Tigray, Ethiopia, specifically when we consider the fact...
The Ethiopian Human Right Commission, a partisan to promote the interest of one group
W. Yilma January 4/2021 - In Ethiopia currently, it is fair to say that the so-called EHRC, the ministry of peace (better to call it ministry of conflict promoter), the Ethiopian Election Commission and the entire judiciary systems should be abolished. They are parasites of the people. This does not mean others ministerial offices are working for the interest of the Ethiopian people.
Know them Fully, Act Deliberately: Wail later!
Aesop 01/03/2021 - Tigreans have lived on this planet for thousands of years. They did not survive this long because they never faced existential threats. Rather, Tigreans survived for they were fit to survive. They adopted, outwitted, outlasted, and triumphed against several natural and man-made disasters over the ages.
Ethiopia's Road to Dictatorship
Aynalem Sebhatu 01-03-21 - Since the ascent of Abiy Ahmed to the highest office of the country, Ethiopia has gone from one of the fastest growing economies of the world to an economy of screeching halt. A two years of ethnic conflicts have left the country with one of the highest internally displaced people in the world. The country is gravely struggling to cope up with conflicts in the Oromia regional state, the Benishangul-Gumuz regional state, and the Southern regional states.

The Unbreakable Moral: Tegaru also sing in time of adversity
Kalayu Abrha 01-03-21 - It is the typical display of the indestructibility of the moral of Tegaru that can be seen in the picture taken by Nariman El-Mofty/AP, A picture containing text, person, crowd, group Description automatically generatedwhere refugee children sing and dance inside a tent run by UNICEF in Umm Rakouba refugee camp. The Amhara wrong, as they always are, about Tegaru have this...
ED-REAP Calls for An Immediate Restoration of Peace and Unfettered Access of Humanitarian Aid to the People of Tigray
January 1, 2021 - We in ED-REAP have been closely following the war on Tigray and the unfolding humanitarian crisis with deep concern and agony. Since the start of the war in early Nov 2020, the Tigray Region of Ethiopia has been severely affected due to the disruption of education and research due to the destruction of institutions, displacement of students (including as refugees to Sudan), researchers & faculty in addition to the catastrophic humanitarian crisis that is affecting ordinary citizens in the region.
Selective mourning and shedding of tears for victims in Ethiopia
W.Yilma December, 01/01/2020 - What people should understand is that there is no justification whatsoever to kill or violating the rights of people, because of their identity, religious or political beliefs'. However, since the psychopathic Abiy came to power, innocent Ethiopians become like a pray animals and killed mercilessly by perpetrators.
Is Ethiopia the Next Yugoslavia?
In December 2019, Ethiopian
Abiy Ahmed was in Oslo receiving the Nobel Peace Prize; less than a year later, he was commanding Ethiopian troops in battle against the country's former dominant party-the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF).
If anyone still doubts that the days of Ethiopia as an empire or a federal country is over then a visit to the doctor will be advised. The Fota Lebash and Amhara elites may be daydreaming under the tree sheds of Humera and Alamata today but rest assured once the Arab mercenaries and stupid "America evangelicals" are tamed soon, they will meet their fate. Tigrai will prevail and Ethiopia as a country is done. Unless there is a Miracle of course!
