Livestreaming Genocide
Elias Dawit 05-16-21 - It is perplexing to read the reporting on Ethiopia's war against Tigrayans. The recitation of facts in the dry tones of conventional journalism project almost an ordinariness to the events. The words "genocide," "humanitarian disaster," "atrocities against civilians," "mass starvation" and even "rape" have somehow failed to convey the sheer depth of interminable sadness, loss and utter horror that a people are undergoing.

GENOCIDE IN TIGRAY:
Mekonnen Abraha 05-17-21 - The word Genocide was coined by Raphael, Lemkin, a Jewish lawyer in 1944, in Poland in his book Axis Rule in Occupied Europe, describing the Nazi policies and their implementation. The word is a combination of ancient Greek word genos meaning race or people with the Latin word cide, meaning to kill.

It is not the first time the International community has failed miserably to protect innocent civilians from being slaughtered. It has failed many times before. Any sane person would think the UN and the only superpower the US, with means to stop genocide, have learned from the Rwanda massacre. It turns out they did not. Tigrayans are being systematically starved and killed by a third-world tyrant and the Biden administration is still in effect in a wait and see approach . Sad!!
Kudos to the Tigrayans who have decided not to wait for the international community to rescue them. With or without the international community help Tigray will prevail soon as Getachew Reda recently said.- Aigaforum May 14, 2021

As Ethiopia Fights in Tigray Region, a Crackdown on Journalists
(New York Times) - NAIROBI, Kenya - One Ethiopian journalist was taken away by police officers as his distraught 10-year-old daughter clung to him. Another fled the country after she said armed men ransacked her home and threatened to kill her. And a foreign reporter working for The New York Times had his press credentials revoked, days after he interviewed victims of sexual assault and terrified residents in the conflict-torn Tigray

World History of Genocide for comparison with Tigray
Kalayu Abraha 05-14-21 - Homo sapiens is the only species in the animal kingdom which is not much affected by the mass extermination of its own kind. Normally, advancement is measured not merely by the state-of-the-art tools and methods we use but by how much we value human life. That was the reason why the preamble of the UN-Charter states...

Ethiopia's Attorney General's Sham Axum Massacre and Rape 'Findings': A futile cover-up and obstruction of justice
Fitih Ashenafi 13.05.21 - First, the Ethiopian regime, through his Attorney General's office, fabricated facts regarding the events leading up to the Axum massacre. Deputy attorney general Fikadu Tsega declared 93 people most of whom the 'trained youth' were killed by the Eritrean forces. Amnesty, Human Rights Watch, other reputed international sources and, to a great extent, the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC) reports sharply contradict the regime's Attorney's account. For example, Amnesty made it clear that...

Eritrean troops disguised as Ethiopian military are blocking critical aid in Tigray
Axum, Ethiopia - Eritrean troops are operating with total impunity in Ethiopia's war-torn northern Tigray region, killing, raping and blocking humanitarian aid to starving populations more than a month after the country's Nobel Peace Prize winning leader pledged to the international community that they would leave

On History: a reflection
Aesop 05/08/2021 - History! There are endless definitions of history. I endorse E.H. Carr’s perspective. Carr presents history as an interpretation. The journalist tallies daily events; the historian gives them meaning. Moreover, this definition of history as interpretation acknowledges the role of human subjectivity over reality. Stories are not disembodied. They reflect our intimate feelings and values.

GSTS Open Letter : Abiy Ahmed Ali is a Force of Instability and Disintegration
GSTS 05-12-21 - We, the Global Society of Tigray Scholars and Professionals (GSTS)i, note that many countries, particularly the diplomatic missions in Addis Ababa, believe that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and his so-called reform need to be salvaged. Contrary to this, realities on the ground in Ethiopia and the Horn of Africa prove that Abiy Ahmed is a force of instability and disintegration. None of the much-needed reforms have be realized, democratization and stability have proven elusive.

Ethiopia Must Set Right Environment for Election, US Says
WASHINGTON - The United States said a "free, fair, and credible election" can happen only with a conducive electoral environment. The statement comes amid a humanitarian crisis and conflict in Ethiopia's northern Tigray region. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken had pressed for Ethiopia's and Eritrea's commitments to withdraw Eritrean troops from Tigray "immediately, in full, and in a verifiable manner."
Who is talking and burking to Smear a good intention interview?
Bereket Kiros 05-13-21 -I am extremely proud to witness this monumental task by TDF and Tegaru diaspora rising to the occasion, taking up this awesome responsibility to save Tigray from the gargantuan political beast unleashed by Abiy and Isias and his Amhara warlords. The attempt to impair me and...

Dangerous Utopia dreaming:
G. Woldu 05-12-21 -Yesterday I read an article written by Kalayu Abraha about Gelawdewos Araia on Aigaforum and since I did not know what the discussion was, I did not think much of it. Today, I saw some people terribly upset about the situation and I was curious to see what was said. Curiosity killed the cat as the saying goes, and I found myself beyond disappointment.

On whose behalf? Is Geladius(PHD) merciful to the Amhara militia in the Zemede show.
Kalayu Abrha 05-11-21 - Any Tigrayan has every personal right to say whatever he likes as long as it does not compromise the core sensitivities of the people of Tigray. What has been happening in Tigray for the last six months is beyond the power of available words. Much more than the actions determined to end the existence of Tigray is what is accumulating in every brain cell of the Tegaru victims. The hate towards the tripartite killers,..

Aye America! Through its former Ambassador, it destroyed an elected government of Ethiopia and appointed Abiy Ahmed as a prime minister in Ethiopia. To make it worst, it is sitting down with a dictator that has never been elected and has no rule of law for his government. While America is cajoling such people, the elected government of Tigray is fighting tooth to nail to restore democracy and rule of law. How is it a country with over 300 years of democratic order is engaged in such an undemocratic undertaking? Is America a democracy? I can't fathom why America is not telling the dictator in no uncertain term to leave Tigray now! Tigrayans, do not put too much faith in the international community to come to the rescue. Freedom will only come out of the barrel of the gun as they say! Shet Meanta! Zeru Hagos May 2021

Ethiopian Orthodox Church Patriarch condemns Tigray 'genocide'
(CNN)The head of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has condemned his own country's rulers in a video recorded by the director of a US-based charity, saying "they want to destroy the people of Tigray" with actions of "the highest brutality and cruelty."

Open letter to the President of the United States, Joe Biden
Eyob Ghebreziabhier Bein. 05-06-21 - Dear Mr. President, First of all, like many, I am happy that you are elected President of the United States. And my request if you can extend your humanity towards Bethlehem Tesfaye of six years, one of the victims of war. This little girl, in my opinion, little Queen Sheba, lost both her legs and her mother in the bomb blast..

Sudan says Ethiopian peacekeepers deported to refugee camp
CAIRO (AP) - Sudanese authorities on Sunday deported around three dozen Ethiopian peacekeepers, working on the U.N. mission in Darfur, to a refugee camp, the state-run news agency reported. The troops are among 120 Ethiopian forces from the Tigrayan ethnic group, who have sought asylum in Sudan after their stay ended earlier this year. The troops, including 14 women, refused to return after being recalled by their home country, Ethiopia, for fear of being detained by the federal government in Addis Ababa.

Ethiopian Orthodox Church patriarch blasts Tigray 'genocide'
NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) - The head of the Ethiopian Orthodox Church in his first public comments on the war in the country's Tigray region is sharply criticizing Ethiopia's actions, saying he believes it's genocide: "They want to destroy the people of Tigray." In a video shot last month on a mobile phone and carried out of Ethiopia, the elderly Patriarch Abune Mathias addresses the church's scores of millions of followers and the international community, saying his previous attempts to speak out were blocked.
All along, we suspected the Abiy regime was silencing the Patriarch from speaking the truth. We were right! We are glad the holy father is okay and has managed to tell the truth. We now know he cares.
A call for transparency as regards the work of United Nations particularly the Office of High Commissioner for Human Rights in the civil wars in Ethiopia
GSTS 05-08-21 - Excellencies, The Global Society of Tigray Scholars and Professionals (GSTS) acknowledges the letter (of 13th of April 2021) from the Chief of East and Southern Africa Section of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in response to our request to reverse the plans and preparations for a joint investigation of the atrocities in Tigray with the Ethiopian Human Rights Commission (EHRC). appreciates the OHCHR for allowing us to present our submissions through a virtual meeting. However, is disappointed to learn that the OHCHR has decided to continue with the investigation jointly with EHRC...

Ethiopia's crackdown on ethnic Tigrayans snares thousands
(Reuters) - The over six months-old Tigray armed conflict waged by the Ethiopian, Eritrean and Amhara merciless leaders and their hundreds of thousands of forces against the people of Tigray (and not against the TPLF) resulted in the death and rape of tens of thousands of unarmed civilians and the displacement and starvation of millions.
